AI app builder
Generate full-stack applications from a sentence, then keep the code.
Codexa turns a plain-language description into a real project with files you can read, a preview you can click, and a deployment you can roll back.
Most AI builders stop at a demo. Codexa treats the generated app as a normal codebase: it lives in a real editor, runs in an isolated sandbox, is validated with a type-check and build, and ships through the same deployment pipeline you would use by hand.
What you get
Prompt to project
Pick a starter (React SPA, static site, or Express API) or let the planner choose based on your prompt.
Real files, real dependencies
Every generated file is persisted in your project and visible in the explorer. No proprietary format.
Validated before you see it
Type-check and build run in the sandbox; the agent reads errors and repairs them, bounded to two attempts.
Snapshot before every run
Review the per-file diff and revert the whole run if the result is wrong.
Iterate in Build mode
Ask for the next feature. The agent reads the current files first so changes fit the existing code.
Deploy from the same screen
Codexa static hosting with history and rollback; Vercel when a token is configured.
How it works
Step 1: Plan
The agent reads your prompt and the project files, then writes a short plan of the files it will create or change.
Step 2: Generate
It edits real files with tools (read, write, rename, delete). Every change is recorded, and a snapshot is taken first.
Step 3: Validate
Type-check, build, and tests run in an isolated sandbox. Errors are read back and repaired, bounded to two attempts.
Step 4: Run
Start a preview in the sandbox with streamed logs, viewport controls, and a share link.
Step 5: Ship
Deploy to Codexa static hosting or Vercel, keep deployment history, and roll back in one click.
Limitations and requirements
- AI features require an Anthropic or OpenAI API key configured by the operator of your Codexa instance. When no key is configured the agent shows an explicit "not configured" state instead of pretending to work.
- Generation quality depends on the prompt and the model; see the prompting guide. Vague prompts produce generic apps.
- Starter templates are React + Vite, static, and Node + Express. Full Next.js generation is not available yet.
- Each generation counts against your plan's AI request and token limits; see credits.
Frequently asked questions
Can it build a backend too?
Yes, as a Node + Express API project with TypeScript, or by adding API routes to a project that already has them. Database access is through a PostgreSQL or Supabase connection you add to the workspace.
Will it overwrite my changes?
The agent reads the current files before editing, and a snapshot is taken before every run. If something is lost you can restore the snapshot or revert the run.
How long does a generation take?
It depends on the model and the size of the change. Progress is streamed stage by stage (plan, edits, validation) so you can watch and cancel.
